Trains leave from Strasbourg’s Central Train Station and arrive at Colmar’s Central Train Station.

There are three types of trains that run this route – TGV trains, OUIGO trains, and TER trains.

I recommend taking the TER train.

Why?

With TGV and OUIGO trains you’ll need to buy your ticket in advance, and you can only take the train that is specified on your ticket. So, if you decide that you want to spend a few more hours in Colmar, you’ll have to buy another ticket. But, with TER trains, you can take whatever train you want.
